I commissioned Howard to aid with developing Group strategies for the categories of couriers, post, parcels, distribution and export freight (both European and Deep Sea). Howard brought insight and in-depth market knowledge to each of these categories; helped design and conduct tenders; including the process of negotiation, contract award and implementation. In addition he helped define a set of KPIs to measure the effectiveness the supply base and our overall performance. This produced year-on-year cost reduction and improvement of delivery performance. Communisis Sourcing achieved CIPS Gold in 2012 and was able to cite some of this work as examples of best practice. Howard brings a wealth of experience and market knowledge along with a high degree of analytical capability enabling a successful procurement outcome.
Oriflame originally employed BGM in 1997 to gain visibility of shipping costs in our highly complex supply chain consisting of many carriers operating in many different markets with multiple currencies. Additionally, BGM have consistently provided a significant level of credits which outweighs the investment cost. During our time working together BGM have been responsible for auditing our global primary freight operation. This is an annual spend in excess of €30 million. Over the years Oriflame have worked with many different carriers in many different countries and BGM have been able to provide the same high level of audit on of all of them. The statistical reports provided by BGM allowed Oriflame management to gain a detailed understanding of shipping costs which was invaluable in keeping a close control of operations and costs.
We are currently in our second contract with BGM which has ran for over a year.
