In 2014 Howard was contracted to work in the Yorkshire Ambulance Service. Howard worked alongside the MD of the Patient Transport Service managing contracts, analysing activity data, assisting in the redesign and implementation of new methods of operation. Howard’s level of skills and expertise in logistics were successfully transferable to work at the Yorkshire Ambulance Service:

  • Acting as the primary contact for commissioners.
  • Negotiating on the Trust’s behalf resulting in an increase for Patient Transport Services above budget target.
  • Aligning multiple contracts to improve efficiency.
  • Reprocuring their sub-contractor framework, boosting membership by 100%.
  • Redesigning tariffs and processes to boost income

Howard was originally contracted to review operations over a 3 month period however, his initial success resulted in staying with the organisation for over 30 months.
